Position Summary

A Hawker is responsible for preparing, handling, and selling food or beverages in a fast-paced, high-volume environment such as markets, festivals, food stands, or outdoor venues. This role requires strong customer service skills, efficiency, and strict adherence to food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve food and beverages according to established recipes and standards
  • Set up, operate, and break down food stalls, carts, or booths
  • Engage with customers in a friendly, energetic manner to drive sales
  • Handle cash, POS systems, and mobile payments accurately
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation at all times
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs
  • Follow all local health, safety, and sanitation regulations
  • Upsell menu items and promote specials or featured products
  • Work efficiently under high-volume conditions, especially during peak service times

Qualifications

  • Previous food service, street food, or concession experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Comfortable standing for long periods and lifting up to 25–50 lbs
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
