Position Summary
A Hawker is responsible for preparing, handling, and selling food or beverages in a fast-paced, high-volume environment such as markets, festivals, food stands, or outdoor venues. This role requires strong customer service skills, efficiency, and strict adherence to food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve food and beverages according to established recipes and standards
- Set up, operate, and break down food stalls, carts, or booths
- Engage with customers in a friendly, energetic manner to drive sales
- Handle cash, POS systems, and mobile payments accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation at all times
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs
- Follow all local health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Upsell menu items and promote specials or featured products
- Work efficiently under high-volume conditions, especially during peak service times
Qualifications
- Previous food service, street food, or concession experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
- Comfortable standing for long periods and lifting up to 25–50 lbs
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
