As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) on our data platform, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our data infrastructure and products. You will work closely with data engineers, developers, and product managers to design, develop, and implement automated testing solutions. Your work will ensure that our data pipelines, ETL processes, and data products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and security.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for data pipelines, ETL processes, and data products.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across multiple systems and environments.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and developers to understand data workflows, design test cases, and implement testing solutions.
  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for data validation, transformation, and loading processes.
  • Implement and manage continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automated testing.
  • Monitor and analyze test results, identify issues, and work with the engineering team to resolve them.
  • Provide expertise in data testing methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members on testing best practices and automation techniques.
  • Foster a culture of learning and excellence within the team and across the organization.

The Skills and Experience You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development and/or test automation, with a focus on data engineering and data platforms.
  • Strong experience in developing automated tests for data pipelines, ETL processes, and data products.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services and cloud-based data solutions (e.g., S3, EMR, Glue, Redshift).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Terraform).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (e.g., Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault) and data mesh principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to provide solutions for complex business problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for continuous learning and improvement, both for yourself and others in the organization.
