Opening its doors in 2013 and expanding in 2017, this state-of-the-art acute care facility has 177 patient rooms and offers services in a wide variety of specialties to meet community needs. The Central Monitoring Unit (CMU) serves as a live control center, with caregivers monitoring patients 24/7 to enhance the care and safety of patients. 
 

A caregiver in this position works 7:00PM – 7:30AM.  
 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Perform ongoing surveillance of patients’ cardiac monitors, cardiac rhythm and vital signs. 

  • Notify nursing caregivers of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics that could impact the patient’s condition.  

  • Interpret patient’s cardiac rhythm and document in the patient’s electronic medical record. 

  • Answer the telephone and communicate clearly when receiving and delivering information. 

  • Orient and mentor new caregivers and serve as a training and troubleshooting resource for the CMU and nursing units.  

  • Provide reports for the oncoming shift.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High school diploma or GED.  

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities attained through successful completion of a formal training program in allied health or a healthcare field such as nursing, medical assisting, EMT or a similar field OR one year of patient care experience in a hospital, nursing home, or healthcare field. 

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, computer and typing skills. 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).  


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Completion of EKG/Cardiac Monitoring course. 

  • Experience as a Monitor Technician.  

  • Demonstrated skill in recognizing abnormal cardiac rhythms.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment under moderate pressure, multi-task with accuracy to keep track of a large number of patients and requires long periods of sitting and watching a computer monitors.

  • Visual acuity for observing cardiac monitor data.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
