Business Banking (BB) secures and enhances the financial wellbeing of people, businesses, and communities—particularly small and medium enterprise customers across metropolitan, rural, and regional Australia, as well as CBA’s online trading and broking customers.

BB Customer, Controls & Governance sits within Advanced Analytics & Data (AAD), part of Customer, Channels and Data (CCD) in Business Banking. The team is the analytical function supporting Customer Risk, Customer Remediation, Customer Lifecycle Management, and Data Governance, helping ensure strong customer outcomes while making CBA a safer bank.

Your impact & contribution

As a Manager, you will partner with the BB Customer Crew to design and implement analytical solutions across the business. You will drive stakeholder outcomes by delivering insights at pace and with quality, supported by strong governance and continuous improvement.

You will uplift data and analytics capability through engagement networks and community forums, while building analytical solutions that strengthen controls and support safer banking outcomes.

This role reports to the Chapter Lead -Customer Crew.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with Business Banking Customer Crew teams to deliver analytical solutions and control monitoring, uplifting existing processes through data‑driven insights

  • Build and maintain end‑to‑end reporting and interactive dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or R‑Shiny

  • Develop and automate analytical solutions using SQL, Python, and/or R

  • Translate complex analysis into clear insights and advice for stakeholders up to General Manager level

  • Lead analytical initiatives and projects supporting Customer, Risk, and remediation priorities

  • Maintain high standards of documentation, version control, and reproducibility using tools such as GitHub, while supporting peer QA reviews

  • Contribute to high‑priority Business Banking initiatives as part of the broader AAD team

Skills & experience

  • You bring a strong mix of technical expertise, business acumen, and critical thinking.

  • You have proven experience using SQL, Python, and/or R to develop analytical solutions, dashboards, and predictive models, supported by solid understanding of data modelling, feature engineering, and statistical analysis.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), modern data environments, and AI virtual assistants or prompt engineering is highly regarded.

  • You understand customer lifecycle management within a regulated banking environment and can align analytics with business strategy and regulatory requirements.

  • You are confident influencing senior stakeholders, contributing to agile delivery, and translating complex analysis into clear, compelling narratives.

  • A minimum of 4+ years’ experience in data analytics or a related discipline is required, along with proficiency in GitHub, Excel, and PowerPoint. Banking experience is preferred.

  • A degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial, Engineering, or Sciences) is expected.
