What is an Electric Transmission & Distribution Planner?
The Electric Transmission & Distribution Planner will be responsible for planning, scheduling, evaluating, prioritizing, and coordinating the construction, operation, and maintenance (to include line clearance) of electric distribution and transmission lines and equipment. The Planner will monitor the progress of projects to ensure successful completion within established timeframes and budget, and review, verify, and allocate invoices related to project work. The Planner will communicate directly with Line Supervisors and support them as needed by performing various tasks such as scheduling work, calling for mark outs, making customer contact, scheduling shutdowns, preparing damage claims, etc.
What does an Electric Transmission & Distribution Planner do?
Assists in the development of monthly and weekly work plans, monitor the progress of projects to ensure successful completion within the established timeframes and budget
Works with the Line Supervisors to ensure that all work orders are reviewed prior to starting work to determine if they can be completed within the estimated and established time frame and subsequently closed out in a timely manner
Assists in managing the area’s capital and operating work plans and provides regularly/monthly input regarding variations from the established work plan and assists in providing budget variation explanations and facilitates preparation of the year-end projections
Differentiates between timing variations and permanent variations from the Annual Work Plan and is expected to complete reports, goals, objectives, required Company & OSHA training, and special assignments on schedule with appropriate documentation
Verifies and accurately allocates invoices while maintaining appropriate documentation
Communicates effectively with customers by phone, in writing, or in person regarding construction, operations, and maintenance; investigates and assists in the resolution of complaints, and coordinates customer service needs with other departments as required
Demonstrates a high regard for personal accountability and the ability to deliver comprehensive recommendations and analysis
Identifies opportunities for productivity improvement and works with the Line Supervisors and Managers to implement changes to current processes
Actively seeks out and encourages the identification of new technologies and work practices to reduce operational costs and/or assist in the reduction of potential safety hazards
Provides storm/ emergency response support
What does it take to be an Electric Transmission & Distribution Planner?
Required:
Associate’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, Accounting or a relevant field. In lieu of an associate’s degree, a High School Diploma or equivalency degree and at least 3 years of practical experience in Engineering, Planning, Scheduling, Project Management, Accounting or related will be considered
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and demonstrated ability to learn new software programs quickly
Excellent analytical, project management and evaluation skills
Strong problem-solving ability, basic mechanical and math skills, and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and operate under pressure in a fast-paced work environment; proactive and flexible in handling multiple assignments and meeting deadlines
Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills to ensure that necessary documents are accurately maintained
Strong verbal and written communication skills; communicates in a clear and concise manner
Self-motivated team player
Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, Accounting or a relevant field
Previous experience in the utility and/or construction industry

Pay Range: $78,900-$110,400
