Job Description:

Main Accountabilities:

This role will support the financial accounting and reporting of Wealth and Pension business.  Will be responsible to:

  • Prepare and develop monthly, quarterly and year-end closing deliverables including the review and preparation of journal entries

  • Create new and support existing financial analysis and reporting processes which are used for making critical financial decisions by ensuring that thorough analysis has been completed by proactively investigating variances, trends, and ensuring that GL accounts are reconciled

  • Lead and/or support related projects including a large-scale reporting initiative aimed at creating process efficiencies and enhanced and value-add reporting

  • Institute and execute procedures and controls to ensure the integrity of financial statements, including demonstrating that financial results are free of error and reported according to applicable GAAP and Corporate policies

  • Support ad hoc requests from various stakeholders, including but not limited to Actuarial, Regional Office

  • Ensure the development and training of staff

  • Contribute to the business and financial objectives of Sun Life Hong Kong

Competencies:

  • University degree in accounting or equivalent

  • Completion of HKICPA, ACCA examinations or equivalent is preferred

  • At least 5 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in the insurance industry

  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools including Excel

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and lead others

  • Ability to collaborate with other teams and/or business units to produce time driven results

  • Adaptable, flexible, and self- motivated in a fast paced and frequently changing business environment with a "can do" attitude

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet established deadlines

  • Must be detail oriented, well organized, self-starter and a team player with a high level of initiative

  • Excellent written and spoken English

Assets:

  • Knowledge of SAP GL systems

  • Knowledge of Workiva

  • Strong financial background with broad knowledge of insurance and pension industry.
