Job Description

The Financial Controller AME will closely cooperate with the Regional HoF, the Finance Operations Manager (SSC Lead AME), the Financial Country controllers and the Business Controllers as well as the Group Control team. The Financial Controller for AME is a key member of the Finance Management Team of AME.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
  • Lead technical accountant and Financial Controller for the Americas region who is responsible to ensure accuracy, completeness and of financial results at an entity level and ensure adherence to Fugro as well as local statutory policies and procedures.
  • Will be responsible for governing the implementation of the Fugro Internal Control framework and ensure robust Balance sheet reconciliation and review in the region, as well as coordination and leadership of internal and external audits across the region.
  • Change agent for the Record to Report and month end close process at Americas, bringing the region to the next level with respect to accounting and financial control as well as statutory compliance in local countries.
  • Responsible for regional cash flow requirements management including looking at review and control of cash reconciliations and supporting global treasury teams as needed.
  • Key member of the Finance Leadership team in AME and a critical partner to RhoF and Business Leaders on technical accounting matters and preparation of accounting memos for strategic topics (IFRS, Asset Sales/Divestures and Fugro Standard Business Practices).
  • Leads and supports the implementation of new standards in the region and in setting up new policies and standards across AME in cooperation with the Global and Regional Finance Team.
  • Manage the actual cash positions of the entities in AME in cooperation with the Country Financial Controllers and Global Treasury. Also drive strong Working capital analysis and review control .
  • Helping the organisation go up the maturity ladder for standardisation, documentation and first time right accounting practices.
  • Understands major business drivers as well as the impact that organisational structure and process has on operations. Pragmatic, holistic, critical and challenging.
  • Gains trust from senior stakeholders, both external as well as internal. Can effectively function in a matrix organisation – dealing with accountability and responsibility across multiple matrix lines.
  • Needs to bridge the various interests in the company (BLs and Functional teams) that results in compliance with local laws and regulations and in an efficient and effective support ecosystem.

Job Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.
  • Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
  • Have 10 years or more experience in GL accounting and Financial Control.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience or more in financial controllership at a regional level, including North and South America in a global organization preferred.
  • Have management experience.
  • Marine industry preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Thorough and methodical attention to detail.
  • Project management skills to handle large special projects within Accounting and Finance.
