In this role, you will support and reaffirm the Safety Management Systems (SMS) application, inclusive of all elements, programs, standards, and practices within the respective Business Unit area operations. You will support regional partners in the utilization of the Enbridge leading indicator programs, permitting compliance processes, incident management, internal/external communications, and contractor / subcontractor engagement. This includes leading small projects within the region and coordinate work of a small team.

What you will do:

  • Lead, coach, mentor and support area/regional line management and safety representatives in execution of their roles. This includes providing safety expertise to operational leadership towards implementation of safety standards and work execution management through systematic assurance of work activities and participation in corrective action plans.

  • Lead the implementation of new or changed Safety Management Program elements in regional operations.

  • Support regional leadership teams to develop regional specific communications and plans.

  • Provide technical expertise based on experience and advanced safety education on health and safety regulatory frameworks to enable Enbridge to be compliant with all provincial, state, and federal health and safety legislation, including third party audits, inspections, and investigations.

  • Lead small work teams on problem identification, and problem-solving issues to support continuous improvement of operational reliability.

Who you are:

  • Degree, diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.

  • Minimum 6+ years of progressively responsible health & safety experience within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry is preferred.  

  • Influence without authority and work collaboratively with site partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, self-managed, strategic, initiate and manage change, work.

  • Strong research, problem solving, observation, analytical, and report writing skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Incident Command System 300 (ICS 300) certification, Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) certification, and offshore experience is preferred.

  • You will be required to undergo various background screening that includes but is not limited to driving record, criminal check and a company sponsored drug testing.

 
Working Conditions:

  • Office environment 50%, field environment 50%.

  • Flexibility to work extended hours or travel for extended periods (approx. 10 days) and work extended hours as required (infrequent) for emergency response support.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
