About the Role:
Join GSK Global as a Senior AI/ML Engineer and lead the development and automation of AI/ML applications and platforms that drive our global business units and local markets. Work with cutting-edge technologies like generative AI/LLMs and existing MLOps platforms to ensure GSK remains at the forefront of AI and machine learning innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • AI/ML Application & Platform Development: Design and implement AI solutions that directly impact strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Data Engineering: Architect and build scalable data processing to acquire, process, and integrate data into data platform from various sources to support analytics and data science applications.
  • Model Deployment: Develop and implement strategies for deploying ML models to production using Azure Databricks and MLFlow.
  • Performance Monitoring: Ensure models deployed into ML Platform meet specified expected performance using Databricks' MLOps stack.
  • Infrastructure Design: Build scalable infrastructure for data processing, model training, and inference using Azure services.
  • Automation: Automate CI/CD workflows and pipelines for ML models and applications using Azure DevOps and Databricks Asset Bundles.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust end to end solutions.
  • Communication: Simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Compliance: Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance using Azure Data Lake and Databricks.
  • Best Practices: Serve as a steward to promote and establish best practices for ML model development, deployment, and monitoring to wider team.

Required Qualifications:

  • More than 5 years of software engineering experience.
  • More than 3 years of hands-on experience in a production environment on any cloud platform
  • Experience with command-line scripting, data structures, and algorithms; ability to work in a Unix environment.
  • Hands-on experience building out production-ready machine learning or generative AI solutions at scale. 
  • Proven hands-on experience in an advanced Data & Analytics environment.
  • Strong data wrangling skills and experience with Azure cloud services.
  • Experience in building scalable data infrastructure and automating workflows.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with new technologies.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Business, Statistics, applied mathematics or other quantitative fields or a related field.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
  • Familiarity with MLOps tools and frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of data security and compliance regulations.
  • Previous experience working in a global team setting.
  • Skill in leading a multifunctional team for at least a complete project cycle
  • More than 2-3 years of (continuous) hands-on experience experience with PySpark.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Azure Databricks and Azure Open AI Service. Understanding AWS and GCP cloud platforms is a plus
  • Experience with machine learning and data-pipeline orchestration
  • Knowledge of performance, scalability, and software engineering best practices.
  • Fundamental knowledge in pharmaceutical industry (e.g. Related laws, Promotion guideline, Pharmacovigilance, Wholesaler)
  • Knowledge of Japan pharmaceutical industry business and related data (primary/secondary sales data, ULTMARC data, IQVIA data, Digital data, other 3rd party data, etc.)

Education/Certification/Language

  • Project Management Education or equivalent certificate (Agile preferred)
  • JLPT N2 or above is nice to have
