Summary
The Carrier Development Associate I will be responsible for the initial qualification and ongoing maintenance for all of Ryder's transactional transportation service providers. This position will be responsible to link qualified carriers to the best solutions and maintain centralized database. Work hand-in-hand with strong mentors, talented local operations teams, and supply chain engineers to design, implement, and maintain best in class transportation solutions. Directly engage with supply chain professionals within many of the World's leading transportation service providers. The Carrier Development Coordinator will develop and maintain a tremendous network of service providers and be responsible to foster the relationship while engaging them on the best opportunities for our mutual success.

Essential Functions

  • Qualify carriers for use within the Freight Management Group through industry related tools. Communicate results of the carrier qualification with the appropriate Freight Management team member. Continually monitor carriers being utilized and collaboratively work with leadership on transportation providers that can no longer be utilized in portfolio. Assist with claims management through to resolution both internally and externally

  • Proactively identify carriers that may be a fit for projects, new & existing business opportunities, and the overall Freight Management portfolio of carriers utilizing provided industry tools. Conduct mini-RFP for Freight Management team where applicable. Have phone discussions with transportation providers on their needs, operating areas, types of services offered, and frequency of capacity to align with opportunities

  • Ensure that all data entry is documented in CRM, ERP, or TMS where appropriate for each carrier

  • Work collaboratively with Freight Management team members and Procurement department to determine best transportation provider mix for each opportunity


Additional Responsibilities

  • Continuous improvement in all segments of the business

  • Ensures that transportation providers are in compliance of Federal, State, and Local regulations and that they align with the business needs

  • Maintain a positive employee related climate and maintain a customer satisfaction index at a World Class Level

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • H.S. diploma/GED required

  • Bachelor's degree preferred Business, Logistics, or related field of study

  • Two (2) years or more Business related experience required
