Job profile

As a Design Engineer you will be responsible for designing and developing sub-systems & Hydraulic cylinders for mining equipment, ensuring compliance with international standards, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability. This job involves providing engineering support to various Divisions within Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology in Current Product Engineering, New Product Development Engineering and Order based Engineering activities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with R&D departments to understand their needs and provide effective solutions.
• To have complete understanding assemblies in Underground Mining Equipment’s.
• Selecting appropriate materials as per the application and performance criteria.
• Develop simple, cost-effective designs that add value to the product.
• Create 3D models, drawings for manufacturing and assembly using the ECN process and maintaining BoM for an assembly using Teamcenter.
• Perform simple design calculations for design verification.
• Design new hydraulic cylinders based on load conditions, duty cycles, and application requirements.
• Specify and select Seals, O‑rings, bearings, and other critical components used in hydraulic cylinders.
• Coordinate with local suppliers for the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of hydraulic cylinders.
• Communicate design ideas and results effectively to stakeholders

Your profile

Education & Experience

You have a university degree in Mechanical engineering or another relevant field (or equivalent) and between 4-6 years of experience in Design and Development of Heavy Equipment’s. You have a solid track record of designing, developing Mechanical engineering solutions.

Technical Expertise:

• Proven ability to design and modify structural assemblies, layouts, and detailed engineering specifications.
• Strong fundamentals in Mechanical Engineering.
• Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Solid knowledge of fits, tolerances, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
• Basic understanding of hydraulic systems and their application in mobile equipment.
• Hands-on experience in the design and development of hydraulic cylinders.
• Ability to perform design calculations and select appropriate components for hydraulic cylinders, including seals, bearings, and materials.
• Familiarity with applicable design and safety standards related to hydraulic cylinders.
• Working knowledge of international design standards.
• Hands-on experience in Unigraphics NX & Teamcenter

Communication and Collaboration Skills:

• Excellent communication skills for interaction with customers, team members, and cross-functional units.
• Collaborative mindset for decision-making and delivering optimal design solutions.
• Ability to work as part of a team design complex prototypes.
