Job Title:

Job Summary:

To collaborate in the coordination, management, and oversight of activities and resources for an assigned sponsored program project in a central research service office within the institution. To establish and implement project management processes to ensure that project requirements are delivered effectively, within budget, in compliance with established standards, and within the specified time frame.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare or related field and two years of related project management experience. Master's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of project management processes, grant and contract policies, procedures, and regulations, federal, state, and local funding sources, and budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of constituencies. Ability to present information and respond to inquiries. Ability to clarify project objectives, goals, and the roles and responsibilities of participants. Ability to organize and manage resources. Ability to review grants and contract proposals. Ability to collect and analyze information. Ability to conduct literature searches.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates in the day-to-day management of the operational aspects of a sponsored program project and scope. Works with client to identify project objectives and establish project parameters, budgets, deliverables, and deadlines. Conducts final fiscal and administrative review prior to grant submission and contract signature to ensure compliance with institutional requirements and applicable laws, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Develops sponsored program project plans and cost projections and recommends changes as appropriate; identifies and allocates resources and prioritizes tasks to ensure that research mission objectives are met.
  • Aligns sponsored program project activities with organizational objectives; ensures that sponsored program project outcomes equate to organizational success.
  • Coordinates the development of policies and procedures to meet sponsored program project requirements. Assures sponsored program project compliance with sponsor guidelines, federal regulations, cost accounting standards, and institutional policies for research involving human participants, animals, biohazards, radioactive materials and hospital and physician services.
  • Interfaces with relevant internal and external parties to resolve problems, maintain progress, and maintain mutual interaction of respected parties to reduce the risk of failure and ensure success of sponsored program project. Interprets and provides advice and guidance to faculty and staff on sponsored programs funding polices, regulations, and procedures from sponsored program project inception to closeout.
  • Informs management of key activities and makes periodic progress reports; maintains and ensures accuracy of sponsored program project documents and reports.
