Job Description

For our Nootdorp office we are looking for a Software Support Engineer to join our Software Specialist team. The team is responsible for testing, releasing, and supporting Fugro in-house developed software.

You will play a key role in testing and supporting our Geotechnical software product Discovery which consists of 16 LOB app and its own cloud service. Discovery supports geotechnical data acquisition, real time machine control, processing, plotting and interpretation and much more. You will play a key role in ensuring high quality software by managing the test process and by providing smart support to our users. You will also contribute to the testing of related digital workflows which are managed by a combination of cloud and local services, client apps and database backend.

 

Fugro Innovation & Technology develops and engineers state of the art systems for soil investigation on land and in the marine environment. The systems combine mechanical, electronic and software elements. Within Fugro Innovation & Technology there are over 100 innovators active in different expert teams, continuously researching and developing new solutions to improve and expand the Fugro Services.

This is an excellent opportunity if you want to switch from an offshore position to an office-based position and share your experience and knowledge from there.

 

Your role

  • You develop a thorough in-depth knowledge of our Geotechnical software products;

  • You run tests during development and prior to release;

  • You develop test cases and test scenarios that reflect the use of the software in the field and ensure robust and reliable products are released;

  • You work closely with software and firmware developers and act as an interface to the user;

  • You identify and propose improvements to our products to increase their stability and efficiency based on your communication with users;

  • You provide support to users through a dedicated servicedesk by troubleshooting reported issues, provides advise on the use of our products and recommend best practices;

  • You contribute to the knowledge base by writing documentation.

 

Your track record

  • You have at least a BSc degree in a relevant technical discipline, or you have reached that level by extended practical field experience;

  • You have relevant field experience on Geotechnical projects, land or marine and/or processing of Geotechnical data;

  • You have a thorough understanding of measurement principles and calibration procedures;

  • You have affinity with IT, data acquisition and testing of software;

  • You can analyze software related problems down to the root, also on database or IT infrastructure level;

  • You have good communication skills, you are service minded, have a structured work approach, and you can convert questions and ideas into concrete tasks.
