Join Artefact Belgium: Lead the Future of Generative AI and Agentic systems

Are you an experienced AI engineer with a passion for generative AI, agentic systems, and technical leadership? Artefact Belgium is looking for a Tech Lead – Gen AI to own the technical vision of our AI projects, mentor a team of engineers, and drive cutting-edge solutions for our clients. If you have 6-7+ years of experience in AI and consulting, combined with a strong sense of technical ownership and a talent for enabling others, we'd love to hear from you.

Who We Are

Founded in Paris, Artefact is a next-generation consulting firm specializing in data, analytics, and AI, focused on transforming data into business impact. We help clients grow their data and digital capabilities while growing ourselves. Our team in Belgium specializes in GenAI and agentic AI projects, working on the most advanced applications of these technologies. Our inclusive and forward-thinking culture encourages creativity, collaboration, and professional growth.

Who You Are

  • Technical leader: You naturally set the bar for engineering quality. You make architectural decisions confidently, lead by example, and know when to roll up your sleeves and code alongside your team.
  • Mentor and enabler: You thrive on helping others grow. You enjoy guiding junior and medior engineers, establishing best practices, and building a team culture of technical excellence.
  • Client-facing expert: You are comfortable being the primary technical point of contact for clients — translating complex AI concepts into business value and building trusted relationships.
  • Pragmatic innovator: You keep a close eye on the state of the art in generative AI and know how to apply emerging techniques to real-world, production-grade challenges.
  • Autonomous and accountable: You take ownership of outcomes,  from architecture to delivery, and proactively flag risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.

What You Will Do

  • Own the technical vision: Define and drive the technical architecture of AI-powered solutions across client engagements, including RAG systems, agentic AI architectures, multi-modal applications, and multi-agent workflows.
  • Lead by example: Stay hands-on : contribute to critical parts of the codebase, conduct code reviews, and set engineering standards that the team rallies around.
  • Mentor a small team: Guide a team of 2-6 engineers and data scientists, helping them grow technically and professionally. Contribute to team-building efforts, including involvement in hiring and onboarding.
  • Establish evaluation frameworks: Design and implement comprehensive quality metrics and benchmarks to ensure production-ready, reliable AI solutions that meet client requirements.
  • Engage and advise clients: Serve as the primary technical lead in client interactions — translating business needs into AI solutions, presenting technical choices, and building long-term trust throughout project lifecycles.
  • Shape the AI roadmap: Identify new use cases, optimize performance and contribute to the development of internal AI tools and products.
  • Build scalable infrastructure: Oversee deployment and maintenance of AI systems, including model serving, API development, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.
  • Contribute to thought leadership: Publish insights, present at conferences, and drive internal knowledge sharing on emerging AI technologies, agent frameworks, and best practices.

What You Bring

  • A degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least 6-7 years of professional experience in AI, with a strong focus on Machine Learning, generative AI.
  • Proven experience as a technical lead or senior engineer, with a track record of owning architecture decisions and guiding engineering teams.
  • Consulting experience, including managing client relationships and delivering tailored, production-grade solutions.
  • Deep expertise in modern generative AI techniques including RAG systems, agentic workflows, multi-agent architectures, evaluation frameworks, and production deployment.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and extensive experience with AI frameworks and cloud providers.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in English, Dutch, or French is required; additional languages are a plus.
  • You must be eligible to work in Belgium.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation aligned with your expertise and experience.
  • A genuine technical leadership role with real ownership : architecture decisions, team direction, and client impact.
  • High-impact opportunities to work with state-of-the-art generative AI technologies and solve real-world challenges.
  • A collaborative, inclusive workplace with access to global expertise through Artefact's international network.
  • A chance to shape the direction of a fast-growing GenAI team within a leading global consulting firm.

This position is based in Brussels, with opportunities to collaborate on projects worldwide.
