Summary
We are looking for a motivated and highly analytical individual to fulfil the role of Business Intelligence Analyst at Arch Insurance. The successful candidate will be able to display strong skills in stakeholder management and be able to combine business acumen with technical ability in creating user Dashboards and using reporting tools including Power BI.
They should be able to demonstrate technical experience in building Dashboard and Reports and working with a range of different data sets. The individual would be able to work across all levels of business stakeholders and within an agile focused reporting team. They should have experience of working with an agile methodology and ideally of working within the Insurance industry.
This is a business facing role with a key focus on translating the business requirements into actionable results from the data. The individual will be working within a dynamic and driven reporting team that works closely with their business domain.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Work with stakeholders in the London Market Underwriting business from all levels, from senior executives down to underwriting teams to develop Dashboards and Reports to provide them with data driven insights and actions needed.
Work with the Product Owner and Business users to establish a roadmap of deliverables that you will be responsible for implementing, including gathering and documenting business requirements and transforming the data we have into actional insights for the users.
Maintain existing reporting and dashboards in your business domain, to ensure consistent quality and ensure users can receive maximum value from the content we deliver.
Manage the workload through JIRA to deliver stories through an Agile methodology and ensuring work is broken down into deliverables in sprints, with an aim to deliver value to the user in the best way.
Take ownership of your business domain to ensure you can deliver the most effective solution to business problems and identify issues before they become problems.
Deliver data driven insights and actions through Dashboard and Reports built in tools from our reporting toolset, focusing on Power BI. Build to a high standard to ensure quality and consistency to the business.
Ensure we follow Data Ops principles in building optimal data solutions through use of T-SQL/Snow SQL in Snowflake and other tools, and develop with an innovative approach to how we design our solutions using the tools.
Adhere to Arch data governance and data security processes and policies.
Over time become the Subject Matter Expert for all things reporting for their business domain to be able to actively improve the reporting available to users.
Use industry, business area and technical knowledge to be able to actively solve issues faced by the business beyond simply responding to user requests.
Skills & Competencies
Demonstrable multi year experience of working with the Insurance Sector - particularly London Market and an understanding of Underwriting disciplines and concepts.
Excellent knowledge of Power BI, including loading and modelling the data, using DAX to generate measures, and building quality reports and dashboards to deliver data driven and actionable insights.
Good experience of working with SQL, particularly in Snowflake and Snow SQL.
Good experience in using Excel, particularly connections from analysis services models including Power BI Premium.
Demonstratable experience of delivering data driven and actionable insights through data analysis and data visualization.
Excellent Stakeholder management experience across all levels and demonstrate ability to handle complex relationships across the business.
Excellent team working skills and ability to work collaboratively to deliver excellent quality work.
Ability to take the lead in relationships with the business to build upon requirements but also push back when and where required.
The ideal candidate would be able to work in our new London based offices 3 days a week to build strong working relationships with the Underwriting teams and our London based team.
