Shift and status

Full time, 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., variable days and every third weekend.

Job Summary

Transports patients throughout the hospital in a timely, safe and efficient manner. Communicates with the dispatcher on runs,

delays, etc. Maintains transportation equipment and completes department records and transportation forms.

Essential Functions

  • Transports patients to their tests and procedures in a safe and timely manner.
  • Collaborates with the nursing staff, ancillary departments, the patient, and other health care providers in providing quality patient care.
  • Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Completes departmental records and transport forms.
  • Meets the department’s standard of 18+ (18-24) runs in an 8-hr. shift.
  • Returns equipment to their appropriate locations. (i.e. wheelchairs, stretchers, oxygen tanks).
  • Demonstrates safe and appropriate use of equipment.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Provides information and gives updates within specified time intervals.
  • Keeps the dispatchers informed of any delays, changing of equipment, etc.
  • Appropriately interacts with other departments when giving or receiving patient information.
  • Maintains “positive” interactions with co-workers, patients, visitors, and staff.

Range of Pay

  • Pay starting at $15.00.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
