The Courier, Pharmacy Services is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate delivery of prescription medications from Holland Hospital’s Outpatient Pharmacy to patients’ homes and designated facilities. This role ensures medications are handled, transported, and delivered in accordance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and privacy/confidentiality standards. Responsible for the general care and maintenance of all courier vehicles. The Courier serves as a professional and courteous representative of Holland Hospital, promoting patient satisfaction and supporting pharmacy operations.
NOTE: This position involves FREQUENT: Lifting and carrying of items weighing 20-30 lbs. / Pushing and pulling of items weighing 30-50 lbs.

NOTE: This position involves FREQUENT: Lifting and carrying of items weighing 40-50 lbs. / Pushing and pulling of items weighing 50-100 lbs.

Shift Length: Mon-Fri (9am-5:30pm)

Weekend Frequency: N/A

Wage Range: $14.25 - $18.20

Education/Certification Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
• Valid Michigan Drivers License with no restrictions and no more than one traffic violation in the last three years required
• Familiarity with Holland / Zeeland area preferred

Medication Delivery & Handling

• Safely picks up, transports, and delivers prescription medications to patients’ homes, affiliated clinics, and other designated locations.
• Ensures proper handling, storage, and transport of medications, including refrigerated and temperature-sensitive drugs, in compliance with pharmacy protocols.
• Verifies recipient identity prior to delivery and obtains required signatures or electronic confirmation.
• Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times when handling patient information and medications.

Workflow & Communication

• Follows assigned delivery schedules while making necessary adjustments for STAT or other special circumstances.
• Accurately documents delivery activities using handheld devices and pharmacy tracking software.
• Communicates promptly with the pharmacy team regarding delays, route changes, or delivery issues.
• Provides courteous, professional, and respectful interactions with patients and staff, representing Holland Hospital in the community.

Safety & Vehicle Maintenance

• Maintains a safe driving record and complies with all traffic laws and regulations.
• Ensures hospital delivery vehicles remain clean, fueled, and in safe operating condition.
• Reports vehicle maintenance needs and assists in transport of vehicles for service when required.

Additional Responsibilities

• Participates in team meetings and process improvement efforts.
• Accepts additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support pharmacy operations.
