Medical Assistant II

Location: This position will work onsite 5 days a week in a clinic located in 1500 S HIATUS RD, PEMBROKE PINES, FL.

Schedule: This position will work a 1st shift from 8:30 am- 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday. Additional hours or days may be required based on operational needs.

The Medical Assistant II is responsible for assisting clinicians in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the physician.

How you will make an impact

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides front and/or back office support.
  • Greets patients in a friendly, service oriented manner in compliance with Care Center (CCC) or Medical Group Practice protocols and workflows.
  • Oversees patient check in by ensuring medical records/charts have been pulled, patient data is current, appropriate paperwork is in order, and charts are reviewed/prepared.
  • Interviews patient, measures vital signs and records reason for visit.
  • Explains procedures, performs treatments, and administers prescribed medication.
  • Oversees patient check out by scheduling follow up appointments, collecting co-payment if applicable, ensuring paperwork is complete.
  • Schedules and confirms patient appointments.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires H.S. diploma or equivalent and minimum of 2 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Requires an active, current and valid Medical Assistant certification.
  • For Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) may be required.
  • Phlebotomy background strongly preferred.
