Tax Accountant

The role is a unique opportunity if you’re looking to broaden your horizon, gain (more) experience with Latin America tax accounting (specific LATAM knowledge is not by definition required) and to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, supporting the continued growth of the company in a scalable, controlled and compliant way. Being part of the centralized finance team means you’ll be working in the (financial & tax) engine room of a registered and listed financial institution.

Adyen is looking for a Tax Accountant to join the Finance team in Amsterdam, focused primarily on maintaining and analyzing the general ledgers that cover the accounting of taxes as well as ongoing tax and regulatory compliance requirements in the LATAM region (Brazil / Mexico). This process starts with the accurate booking of supplier invoices and ends with reconciliations and tax compliance and reporting.

What you’ll do

Creating bridge between Financial Control and Tax for multiple entities, starting within the LATAM region:

  • Prepare and submit tax filings and other regulatory filings for LATAM entities (Brazil/Mexico), including working with the accounting data;
  • Prepare tax accounting documentation (such as the effective tax rate calculation) for internal and external stakeholders, such as external auditors;
  • Perform general accounting functions including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet (including tax-related) reconciliations;
  • Assist the tax team in tax audits;
  • Respond to tax inquiries and timely assist business partners with tax issues;
  • Supporting on projects and on going tax initiatives of the business;
  • Assist the financial controlling team in determining the correct tax positions in the financial statements (both on a statutory and consolidated level) and prepare the necessary documentation to substantiate this;
  • You'll be responsible for further driving automation to streamline core functions and improve accuracy, assisting in process improvement and systems enhancement to drive initiatives that help scale the organization.

Who you are

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or Taxation;
  • You have experience in financial control/accounting;
  • You are detail-oriented, with an analytical mindset;
  • You have a mindset of constantly improving, automating and scaling;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with ability to work independently and prioritize;
  • Able to think 2 steps ahead. We are looking for someone that can question the status quo, think critically and creatively to implement solutions to scale during Adyen’s rapid growth;
  • Experience in the LATAM region is a plus but not a strict requirement;
  • Fluent in English is mandatory and Portuguese/Spanish is a plus.
