About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Core Platform team within a mid-size fintech organization. The Platform Engineering team builds core engineering, frameworks, tooling and libraries that enable application teams to increase engineering velocity, improve developer experience, operate more reliably, and maintain consistent engineering standards across the company.

What You’ll Do

Platform Strategy & Product Ownership

  • Own the platform vision and multi-quarter roadmap, aligned with company growth and engineering priorities
  • Act as product owner for platform capabilities, translating developer pain points into scalable solutions
  • Define success metrics for platform initiatives (e.g., adoption rate, reduction in build time, improved reliability)
  • Balance investment between new platform capabilities, platform reliability, and support for consuming teams

Engineering Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of platform engineers
  • Establish clear expectations, goals, and career development paths for team members
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, and customer (developer) empathy

Delivery & Execution

  • Drive predictable delivery of platform initiatives using agile practices
  • Ensure platform work scales across multiple application teams without creating bottlenecks
  • Manage technical tradeoffs between standardization and team autonomy

Developer Experience & Enablement

  • Improve developer velocity through standardized libraries, service templates, CI/CD tooling, and testing frameworks
  • Reduce cognitive load and duplication by promoting consistent patterns and best practices
  • Define, implement, and enforce architectural standards, principles, and best practices across all engineering teams
  • Champion developer experience by prioritizing usability, documentation, and self-service capabilities
  • Conduct architectural reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements (scalability, performance, security, maintainability)

Cross-Team Collaboration & Influence

  • Partner closely with application engineering teams to understand needs and remove friction
  • Collaborate with Architecture, DevOps, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure platform solutions are secure, compliant, and scalable
  • Communicate platform direction, priorities, and tradeoffs clearly to engineering leadership and stakeholders

AI/LLM Advocacy

  • Lead the research and implementation of AI-assisted foundational tools and frameworks for firm wide adoption.

What You’ll Need

  • 8–12 years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in an engineering management role
  • Strong technical background in building platforms, shared services, or internal developer tooling
  • Experience acting as a product owner or technical lead for internal platforms used by multiple teams
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Java-based platforms and modern CI/CD systems
  • Experience working in cloud-native environments (AWS preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. DriveWealth is unable to sponsor an employment Visa at this time.

Special Knowledge (Nice to Have, But Not Rqequired)

  • Experience in fintech or other regulated industries
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and secure software development
  • Prior experience improving developer productivity or platform adoption metrics
  • Hands-on experience with LLM, Agentic frameworks or implementing AI-driven developer tools.
