Essential Functions
Reports to and assists the IT Systems Manager as required including desktop/laptop support, performing scheduled network tasks, updating anti-virus definition files, monitoring network servers (physical & virtual), and providing internet and intranet user support, and specialized training. Help maintain the day-to-day operation of servers and desktop/laptop support including all end user hardware/software support, and special projects. Supports data connectivity for local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems. Assists in coordinating special projects including system installation, backup, maintenance and problem solving. Assists in providing network and remote connectivity. Maintains LAN user documentation including hardware/software applications, support logs and other related information. Assists in installing, designing, configuring, and maintaining system software. Analyzes and troubleshoots the system logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems. Installs, supports and maintains desktops, laptops, network servers and appliances. Establishes and maintains file sharing, access privileges and security. Researches, analyses, monitors, troubleshoots and resolves server problems. Researches and evaluates new technologies related to desktops, servers, software and networking. Testing of software in our lab environment prior to deployment into our production environment.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience with VMware ESXi 5.5/6.0+ Experience with Exchange 2016. Intranet webportal management, HTML programing. Experience with Microsoft server operating systems including Windows 2008 – 2012. Experience with working in Active Directory / Group Policy environment – minimum of 2012 Native Mode. Experience with Veeam backup software. Experience with SQL Server 2008 – 2014. Good problem solving skills. Ability to work alone (if necessary) and with limited immediate supervision. Ability to write formal IT Documentation. Ability to learn new technology quickly. Experience with Hitachi UCP Director. Experience with Intranet Connections portal software. Experience with Microsoft desktop operating systems up to and including Windows 7/8/10. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint 2010/2013. Experience with Specops Deploy for software deployment. Experience with Symantec Backup Exec. Experience with Antivirus software management. Experience with helpdesk software. Proven abilities in desktop support and PC maintenance.
Education and Experience
This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in ever increasing job responsibilities in a similar position. 2-4 years of experience as a Network Administrator.
Work Environment
Generally 8 hour days, 5 days a week, indoors in a controlled environment.
