This role is integral to ensuring the competitive positioning and legal compliance of our U.S. benefits offerings. The Benefits Manager will be responsible for administering and managing our comprehensive U.S. employee benefits programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Benefits Systems
- Manages annual enrollment process
- Manages communications and compliance (HIPAA, SOX, 5500s, etc.) for multiple health plans, and vendor management related to Health and Welfare benefits for participants comprised of active eligible employees in a number of benefit plans through multiple vendors.
- Ensures all required processes, system feeds, business transactions, and reporting are properly executed in a timely manner including vendors and payroll feeds
- Audits for benefits enrollment compliance per plans.
- Partners with Health and Welfare vendors to recommend and implement new benefits and policies.
- Benefits management includes medical, dental, life, AD&D, HSA, FSA, Short and Long Term Disability plans, 401(k), ESPP, Accident, Critical Illness, and COBRA
Service Management
- Manages multiple external vendors and responsible for the management of accurate data relayed to vendors as well as process outcome. Review of metrics for KPIs and quality control.
- Address service issues; ensuring root cause analysis and remediation.
- Support and SME: Acts as the escalation point for internal and external customers to resolve process or customer issues.
Continuous Improvement
- Provides and demonstrates commitment and seeks solutions towards continuous improvement and pro-activeness to challenge existing practices and drive changes for process efficiencies. Owns process improvement efforts, improve efficiencies, and successfully implement new processes.
- Supports teams on issue resolution, process design and controls. Rolls out and trains teams on new initiatives, processes, and system enhancements.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience in U.S. health and welfare benefits; exposure to Canadian benefits administration a plus
- Bachelor’s degree required, preference in business or Human Resources.
- Strong technical understanding of HRIS data management; Workday preferred
- Deep knowledge of U.S. healthcare compliance matters, internal and external standards, controls and regulations (i.e. HIPAA, PHI, PII and other sensitive and confidential information)
- High level of service mindset. Highly focused on results and providing a structured, systematic approach to delivering business solutions
- Strong understanding of health and welfare benefits
