Job Summary: Perform watch and patrol duties essential for the protection of the public, staff and property. Preserve peace and order, to provide excellent customer service and to protect persons and property, and to perform duties relating to the welfare and safety of the employees, patients, visitors, and property of WellStar Health System. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Enforce the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of WellStar Health System - Maintain scheduling of police officers adequate to meet the needs of assigned facilities. - Assist with investigations assigned by the Manager of Security involving incidents and events at WHS facilities. - Provide assistance to employees, patients and visitors. - Assist with traffic and parking control. - Document observations, hazards, and incidents for follow up corrective action. - Take immediate corrective action against hazards and conditions which may cause injury or damage. - Strong working knowledge of CMS/EMTALA Guidelines and their applicability. Safety/Emergency responsibility response - Participates in planning and conducting emergency management training for security staff; participates in workshops, conferences, and test exercises. - Works with other departments and personnel to promote emergency management programs; participates in special activities to ensure effective utilization of System resources in the event of an emergency. - Assists in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of segments of System-wide emergency management program as it relates to the security function. - Respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations. Provide excellent customer service - Provide a visible deterrence to crime, prohibited activities, or suspicious activities in public and non-public areas. - Maintain a positive working relationship with facility staff members. - Maintain a thorough knowledge of a facility and where applicable of multiple facilities. - Communicate effectively with diverse people including patients, visitors, employees and medical staff. - Write accurate, clear, and legible reports. Leadership, Communications/Reporting - Assists with on-going risk assessments as necessary to ensure safe and secure facilities for employees, visitors, staff and patients. - Provides regular reports to facility-based to security management regarding significant and criminal events both on-campus and off. - Assists with on-going risk assessments as necessary to ensure safe and secure facilities for employees, visitors, staff and patients. Required Minimum Education: High school diploma Required or equivalent Required Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
  • AHA Heartsaver First Aid-Preferred or Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor
  • Georgia Driver's License
Additional License(s) and Certification(s): Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 5 years years law enforcement experience and currently employed in good standing with a police department, sheriffs department or other law enforcement agency. Required Required Minimum Skills: Ability to speak, read, writes, and follows written and oral instructions. Possess writing skills necessary to complete incident, accident and investigative reports as required. Public relations skills necessary to communicate effectively with the public in a courteous, professional and tactful manner. Must be able to accept responsibility, manage authority and maintain confidentiality of information Ability to function independently of constant supervision and exercise physical and emotional restraint under stressful conditions Ability to observe, listens attentively and use problem-solving skills.
