What you will do
Johnson Controls is seeking a strategic and analytical Sr. Strategic Sourcing Buyer to lead the sourcing and management of key global commodities. In this crucial role, you will leverage your expertise to develop category strategies, drive cost savings, and foster strong supplier relationships.
How you will do it
- Become a Category Expert: Develop in-depth knowledge of assigned categories, including industry trends, competition, and future innovations.
- Lead Strategic Sourcing: Design and implement sourcing strategies for your assigned commodities, optimizing the sourcing footprint and driving cost reduction through various methods like LCC sourcing and value engineering.
- Drive Collaboration: Maintain regular communication and alignment with the extended business unit procurement team to ensure seamless execution of category strategies.
- Negotiate Win-Win Deals: Lead supplier contract and price negotiations, securing optimal terms and fostering long-term partnerships.
- Champion Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement strategies for trade working capital improvement, purchasing control, and cost analysis.
- Lead Supplier Development: Actively manage the supply base, driving supplier performance and development initiatives.
- Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve supplier delivery, quality, or commercial issues.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data and analytics to optimize procurement processes and make informed "make vs. buy" decisions.
- Global Impact: Collaborate with international teams to leverage purchasing opportunities across all regions in the business unit.
- Deliver Results: Achieve or exceed category-related goals such as cost savings, quality improvement, and supplier rationalization.
What we look for
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive procurement experience with a focus on strategic sourcing.
- Extensive experience in global sourcing methodologies.
- Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Strong understanding of purchasing principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite with advanced skills in Excel for data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of SAP or other equivalent ERP systems (preferred).
- Previous experience with Electro-Mechanical or Electrical categories
