What You Will Do:
Guidehouse is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to support information technology (IT) initiatives for the Department of Homeland Security. This position will be responsible for performing and coordinating a range of communications and related tasks as part of a product management and stakeholder engagement support team. The individual must possess a high level of experience consulting for the federal government and be proficient at framing, developing, reviewing, and presenting communications deliverables to senior-level clients with minimal supervision. The individual must also be well informed on current IT security issues and relevant federal requirements and regulations. Strong technical writing and editing abilities are required.
Regular responsibilities include communications planning and coordination, performing technical writing and editing of contract deliverables, and developing templates to address contract deliverables and system gate reviews. The individual will provide a variety of management responsibilities and a willingness to be flexible in supporting numerous work products and deliverables, which may include meeting support, process documentation, and the development of organizational communications documents of varying types.
Day-to-day tasks include some or all of the following:
Perform technical writing and editing and collaborate with SMEs to develop effect communications for a broad set of stakeholders using IT systems.
Establish and manage formal communications functions and processes for a including communications plan, SOPs and guidelines, executive engagements, and target messaging..
Coordinate the planning, development, review, and dissemination of communications relevant to the implementation of IT solutions.
Write in a clear, non-technical, accessible, compelling, authentic, and accurate way about a broad range of issues
Organize, manage, and develop content for internal and external engagements including client media engagements, webinars, videos, and social media platforms.
Leverage attention to detail, flexibility, and initiative in managing assignments to adapt to quickly changing client priorities and ad hoc requests.
Consistently deliver high-quality services and deliverables to clients.
Present information/lead meetings and work directly with senior-level clients
Progress tracking, reporting, and coordinating tasks across all phases of development and delivery
What You Will Need:
An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED SECRET Federal or DoD security clearance
Bachelor’s degree
FIVE (5) or more years of experience in communications
Experience with capturing voice and speech writing and in supporting a senior executive or government official and engaging with executives across large organizations
Knowledge of widely used style guides and foundational principles of English grammar
Ability to perform independent research, verify facts rapidly, and produce on tight deadlines
What Would Be Nice To Have:
Experience working in the Department of State, Department of Homeland Security or Department of Justice or another Federal government agency environment is a plus
Advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office, project management, and team management skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and switch between tasks quickly
Passion for continuous learning
