Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Associate Director – Product Portfolio Operations & Planning enables seamless execution and coordination across our reconciliations product portfolio at RBC Capital Markets. You partner closely with product leadership and multiple product teams to align roadmaps, sequence initiatives, manage dependencies, and ensure the portfolio operates as a cohesive whole. As our reconciliations business evolves and expands its product capabilities, you provide the operational rigor and strategic coordination that allows leadership to focus on strategy and delivery while maintaining portfolio-wide visibility and alignment. You remove friction, facilitate decision-making, and ensure our product suite delivers measurable value across the organization to all stakeholders who depend on these capabilities.

What will you do?

Primary Responsibilities

Portfolio Planning & Roadmap Coordination

  • Develop integrated reconciliations product portfolio roadmap; align individual product roadmaps with enterprise strategy, capital markets priorities, and sequencing requirements.

  • Lead portfolio planning cycles; manage dependencies, trade-offs, and resource allocation across the reconciliations product suite.

  • Identify conflicts, overlaps, and opportunities for coordinated delivery across core reconciliations capabilities.

  • Establish planning frameworks, cadences, and governance structures that create predictability and accountability across the portfolio.

  • Partner with Finance on portfolio-level budgeting, funding models, and ROI tracking.

Cross-Product Orchestration & Execution Support

  • Work with leadership and product teams to remove blockers and surface risks early.

  • Monitor portfolio execution velocity and health; track key metrics and performance against roadmap commitments.

  • Facilitate cross-product coordination on sequencing, dependencies, and launch timing - ensuring internal dependencies are thoughtfully managed.

  • Escalate issues and trade-offs; support leadership in decision-making and priority arbitration across the reconciliations suite.

  • Maintain visibility into operational impact of product changes; coordinate with Operations and Risk on production readiness and control implications.

Governance & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Establish and facilitate portfolio-level steering committees and governance forums across product leadership, business sponsors, and key stakeholders.

  • Serve as primary coordinator between product leadership and stakeholders; ensure alignment on portfolio direction and investment rationale.

  • Prepare portfolio performance reports, roadmap updates, and investment summaries for Capital Markets leadership.

  • Build alignment across product teams on priorities, sequencing, and organizational trade-offs; manage conflicting demands from different business units.

  • Work with product teams to identify stakeholder readiness requirements; flag adoption, training, or operational readiness gaps early.

  • Support go-to-market planning for new reconciliations capabilities; ensure stakeholders understand value proposition and transition requirements.

  • Maintain launch calendars and communications timelines; coordinate messaging alignment across the reconciliations suite to avoid stakeholder fatigue.

What you need to succeed?

  • 6–9+ years' experience in product management, program/portfolio management, or operations roles - preferably in capital markets, financial services, or mission-critical operations environments.

  • Proven success coordinating across multiple products or complex portfolios; experience with reconciliations, trade processing, or operations technology a plus.

  • Experience in matrixed organizations and with multiple stakeholder management across business units, technology, operations, and risk.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills; comfort with planning frameworks, roadmaps, and governance.

  • Excellent facilitation and consensus-building abilities; skill at surfacing issues and supporting leadership decision-making.

  • Strong communication skills - ability to translate portfolio priorities and trade-offs to diverse audiences across business and technology.

  • Financial acumen; comfort with budgeting and ROI tracking.

  • Detail-oriented and data-driven; comfortable with metrics, dashboards, and performance tracking.
