  • Casual Sessional, commencing August 2024
  • Teaching within the Advanced Diploma of Engineering (Mech / Aeronautical or Civil)
  • Flexible hours per week, based at the Melbourne CBD Campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University

About You

As a Casual Sessional within Vocational Education, you will be mainly responsible for the delivery of course material, assessing students and the supervision of students enrolled in selected courses within the program.

You will participate in the program’s continuing review of course content and development, delivery, teaching methods (including on-line delivery methods) and methods of students’ assessment. Your performance will be underpinned by participation in relevant activities which ensure your vocational competence meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.

We are looking for sessional teachers to assist in subjects covering any of the following: Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME), Aircraft Design, Aeronautical Design Principles, Aeronautical Engineering Fundamentals or Aircraft Power Plant Design as well as Scientific Principles, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics and Civil Engineering units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills, relevant to teaching and consultancy environments.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, and in the use of flexible teaching methods.
  • Experience in competency-based assessment.
  • Skilled in diagnosing learning problems in students, propose and implement effective solutions. 
  • Skills and experience in competency-based assessment.
  • Ability in ensuring current and contemporary vocational competence which meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.
  • Experience in relevant industry, and substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position.
  • Capacity to diagnose  learning  problems  in  students,  propose  and  implement effective solutions.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A qualification in the TAE40116 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its equivalent; or higher-level qualification in adult education.
  • Demonstrated experience of teaching in Vocational Education is desirable.
