PRIMARY PURPOSE:  
Simon Property Group, a global leader in real estate industry, is seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Vice President of Security Operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining and building upon the already established enterprise-wide security strategy, programs, and policies to ensure the safety and security of our properties, employees, tenants, and visitors. This executive role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and extensive experience in corporate security, law enforcement operations and relationships, risk management, and emergency response.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: 
1.    Strategic Leadership:
o    Lead, continuously evolve, develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy aligned with the company’s goals, objectives, and Safety Act certification.
o    Lead the Security department, providing vision, direction, and oversight.
o    Collaborate and influence senior management to integrate security considerations into business decisions and operations.
2.    Risk Management:
o    Identify, assess, and mitigate security risks across all properties and operations.
o    Develop and oversee the implementation of risk management policies and procedures.
o    Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions.
3.    Operational Security:
o    Oversee the security operations for all properties, including the management of and budget development for security personnel and third-party security providers.
o    Maintain Company’s DHS Safety Act Certification, including all quality assurance programs, compliance policies, and program measurement methods.
o    Ensure the implementation of standardized security protocols and procedures across all locations.
o    Monitor security technology and systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and effective. Continually explore, pilot, and implement advancements in security technologies which bring operational efficiencies to the security program.
o    Oversee operations at Simon’s Operational Intelligence Center, including budget development and execution, new technology development and integration, collaboration with similar law enforcement centers nationwide, human resource development, and internal collaboration with Company Information Services personnel.
4.    Emergency Response:
o    Maintain emergency response plans and protocols contained in the Company’s Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
o    Coordinate with local and federal law enforcement, emergency services, and other relevant agencies through an already established and diverse network of professional relationships.
o    Lead the organization’s response to security incidents and crises, ensuring effective communication and resolution.
5.    Compliance and Reporting:
o    Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
o    Prepare and present regular security reports to the executive team. 
o    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging security threats and trends.
6.    Training and Development:
o    Develop and implement security training programs for employees and tenants.
o    Foster a culture of security awareness throughout the organization.
o    Stay abreast of industry best practices. 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
•    Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.  
•    Minimum of 15 years of combined experience in corporate security, law enforcement, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in a law enforcement agency.  
•    Extensive knowledge of security protocols, risk management, emergency response, and crisis management.
•    Proven ability to develop and implement effective security strategies and programs.
•    Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a diverse team.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Graduation from advanced leadership training including, F.B.I. National Academy, Southern Police Institute, Northwestern Center for Public Safety, Police Executive Research Forum and/or Certification in security management (e.g., CPP, PSP, CISSP) is highly desirable.
