Clinical Coordinator - Emergency Department

• Facilitates patient flow and coordinates activities within the clinical area nursing unit during assigned shifts.
• Acts as a resource and leader for patients, staff, healthcare providers, and administration.
• Ensures patient care is delivered efficiently, courteously, and in accordance with standards.

Position Requirements:

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
• Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible compact state.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
• Current RN licensure in Virginia.
• AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.

Experience Required:

• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience.
• Charge Nurse experience or supervisory experience.

Experience Preferred:

• Academic Healthcare experience.
• Experience with similar patient population in acute care or relevant setting.

Education/Training Required:

• Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program recognized by the state’s Board of Nursing.
• Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of start date and complete it within five years.

Education/Training Preferred:

• Certification in specialty area.
• Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Nursing from an accredited program.

Responsibilities:

• Follows physician/licensed independent provider orders.
• Practices within Virginia's nursing regulations and ANA Code of Ethics.
• Organizes work with input from patients/families, demonstrating sound clinical judgment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Organizes, delegates, and supervises RNs, LPNs, Care Partners, and Unit Secretaries.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible compact state

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current RN licensure in Virginia AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent

Experience REQUIRED:

Charge Nurse experience or supervisory experience

Experience PREFERRED:
Academic Health Care experience
Experience with similar patient population in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice

Education/training REQUIRED:

All practice is guided by and follows the VCUHS policies and procedures and established practice guidelines.
Organizes and plans work with input from the patient/family with specific outcomes and demonstrated use of sound clinical judgment and resources.

Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):
Organizes work and delegates and supervises others (RN’s, LPNs, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries, etc) in carrying out assignments

Additional position requirements:
Clinical Coordinators work designated shifts, days of the week, and/or holidays based on work area.
Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your supervisor.
Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet clinical care area unit requirements and/or as needed.
