Risk Management is an independent function within CommBank which is accountable for providing approval and acceptance of decisions to ensure the Group remains within its risk appetite.
The Technology and Operations (Tech & Ops) Risk team is responsible for providing specialist Line 2 Operational Risk and Compliance (OR&C) advice, assurance and acceptance/approval of decisions made across the Technology, COO and Supplier Support Units.
The Chief Operations Office (COO) Line 2 Risk & Compliance team with Tech & Ops Risk, is responsible for providing independent Operational Risk and Compliance (OR&C) advice, assurance and acceptance/approval of decisions made across the COO to ensure a strong control and compliance environment that operates within risk appetite. You will be part of the team that proactively advises and supports the Business, International and Market Operations (BIMO) business and Payment Operations team.

Support CBA’s journey to NPS +30 and delivering better customer outcomes through leading risk management – specifically effective, practical insights, ORMF and CMF support, efficient governance and timely, fact-based reporting, and enabling the effective operation of the COO Risk & Compliance team to drive great business, risk and customer outcomes.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
Provide Line 2 operational risk advice, review and challenge to the BIMO profile to enable the safe delivery of business objectives.
Provide thematic insights, advice and guidance to the BIMO portfolio on current and emerging risks.
Support and contribute to key reporting and governance activities including BIMO NFRC and inputs to COO NFRC and other reporting;
Drive effective Operational and Compliance framework implementation including contribution at Group led Operational Risk and Compliance working groups, and continuous improvement of risk practices across the team.
Provide subject matter expertise and proactive risk advice to the business to support the achievement of their business objective in an risk managed way.
Contribute to and lead Line 2 assurance activities and deep- dives.
Operating in an agile way, provide timely and effective insight on change management risk impacts and drive mitigating action.
Act as the lead Operational Risk SME for stakeholder engagements and provide constructive challenge across all levels.
We’re interested in hearing from people who have:
Strong Non-financial risk management experience in financial services (Operational risk preferred)
Risk experience within a Global Markets, Global Trade, Institutional lending or business banking business.
Experience in interpreting risk data to determine themes, patterns and areas needing attention.
High quality written and verbal communication skills, report writing, evidence gathering and data capabilities.
Stakeholder and influencing skills with the ability to engage as a trusted but independent partner.
A curious and humble mindset, understanding of external trends and changes, interest in learning, to build risk management best practice.
The ability to work independently on initiatives, and be a team player when collaborating and support is needed.
