Pay Range

$21.85 - $32.80

Promotes positive Clinical Outcomes by providing consistent clinical assistance to patients and other members of the clinical team.

  • Assures medical record data ( i.e., results of all tests, pathology, radiology, cardiology) and consults are included in medical record for the physician to review before the visit. Communicate with RN any incomplete charts and barriers to task not performed.
  • Performs various tasks based on department need, patient condition, and skills verification. Preparing patient for the exam rooms, measuring and recording vital signs including height and weight, recording and updating medication list, performing routine screening test, phlebotomy and collection of other laboratory specimen, transport specimen to lab on a timely manner and maintenance of instruments for MD use.

Consistently exhibit Advocate’s Standards of Behavioral Excellence to promote achievement of KRAs for Patient Satisfaction as evidenced by meeting goals for Press Ganey scores.

  • Adheres to Advocate’s, AIMMC , AMG and Cancer Center standard of behavior with regard to customer service to facilitate high patient satisfaction achieve KRAs for patient satisfaction scores on the Press Ganey Survey.
  • Actively participates in staff meetings in order to facilitate new processes to help the organization achieve KRAs in patient satisfaction.
  • Assists the Clinic Nurse Supervisor in maintenance and daily upkeep of the clinic areas, 3rd floor lobby clutter free before the start of clinic, brochure and calling cards restocked, reducing noise refrain from using personal electronic devices on the patient care areas, unloading and restocking rooms as assigned every Friday.
  • Utilizes appropriate resources to meet customer needs including greeting patients and practicing AIDET, checking for referrals and notifying Case Manager or PSR if missing in chart, answer all phone calls by the end of the day, document in EMR any patient related event, complete Quality Checklist by end of the day and return all phone calls by the end of the day.

  • Participates in initiatives to review and update Cancer Center clinical guidelines and policies and educates self and others regarding these guidelines and policies.

Promotes growth of the center by maintaining a knowledge base of all Cancer Center services and promoting those services to patients. Promotes funding our future by adhering to charge entry practices and also utilizing PTO and overtime per department standards.

  • Support AMG, IMMC and Cancer Center initiative that promotes growth.
  • Participate in programs that improve effectiveness and overall function and operation of the organization.
  • Utilize available resources to maintain current knowledge and demonstrate self-direction in meeting annual goals and certifications.
  • Successfully completes task assigned on a timely manner and decrease overtime.
  • Accurately enters charges for patient encounters accurately and timely.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR 2-3 years medical assistant experience
  • Experience with special populations preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Clinically appropriate skills.

  • Basic CPR Certification, preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to access patients and respond in a timely manner
  • Exposure to unidentified infectious cases
  • Exposure to body fluids and blood
  • Ability to work varying shifts to meets needs of center.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations.
  • Physical demands are moderate. Occasional lifting, bending and stooping or sitting.

Normal office environment where there is minimal or no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust or noise. Equipment utilized includes basic office equipment designed for use with ambulatory patients as well as emergency medical equipment.
 

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
