What can you expect?
Reporting to the President, Mercer Hong Kong, with a dotted line to the MMB Leader, Asia Pacific (based in China), this role leads and is accountable for all aspects of the MMB Hong Kong P&L, including the sustainable growth and ongoing innovation of this key business within the Asia region. The successful candidate will also lead complex client engagements, with accountability for revenue and profitability of client accounts and projects. This role is a member of the Hong Kong Executive Leadership Team and is critical in driving this business’ future growth and success through long-term business strategy, direction and focus.
For this role, the business requires a seasoned executive with strong, visible and reputable leadership in the marketplace with the ability to win new business, along with the commercial acumen, knowledge and experience in the Employee Health & Benefit space in the Asia region, a deep understanding of the sector and outstanding stakeholder management. The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 100 staff, with significant revenue responsibility.
We will count on you to:
- Develop and execute business vision and strategy in line with overall business objectives and financial targets.
- Drive growth from new business and diversification of market sectors. Generate revenue through the acquisition of new clients, cross-selling to current clients and extending current client engagements.
- Promote and grow internal relationships and foster collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization. Partner with Marsh Risk Hong Kong to enhance collaboration and maximize opportunities.
- Manage and grow key customer relationships and oversee the quality of customer accounts and service delivery across the business.
- Determine the full scope of services provided to the client and set roles and responsibilities within the client team. Oversee multiple project managers, ensuring the team is within budget, on time and producing work consistent with client expectations. Clarify and resolve unique and difficult issues related to client deliverables.
- Develop and execute innovative initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of business strategy through strong leadership and operational effectiveness.
- Ensure all facets of operations meet bottom line and profit targets, quality standards and customer expectations.
- Develop and implement market service standards and processes.
- Drive operational excellence across the business through efficiencies, innovation and technology.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of continuous improvement programs, consistent operational frameworks and customer focused initiatives.
- Lead, motivate and develop staff to achieve the goals of the business and customer strategy and targets.
- Provide significant contribution to local, regional and global leadership meetings and forums as appropriate and represent MMB Hong Kong across the organization, to clients and in the market place as an ambassador and thought leader.
What you need to have:
- At least 15 years' experience in the employees’ benefits arena, ideally focused on Hong Kong and broader Asia markets, with a record of driving growth and retention directly with clients, especially at the executive level. Local on-the-ground experience is preferred.
- Influencing and persuading skills with the ability to drive activities and growth across various areas of the organization.
- Proven strategic planning skills, business acumen and a bias for action and results.
- Dedication to quality in all aspects of work performance and client services, with a passion for excellence.

- Outstanding communication style; able to effectively associate with various audiences, adapting approach as appropriate. Sound listening and comprehensive skills a must.
- Commitment to professionalism and providing high-level client service to exceed client expectations.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while managing a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills in English with a strong preference for Cantonese and/or Mandarin language capabilities.
