What we are looking for:

Fiera is currently looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to join their team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Vice President, Treasury and Taxation you will be responsible for supporting Canadian tax compliance, reporting, and planning procedures for a multi-level corporate and partnership structures of real estate investment funds in multiple Canadian jurisdictions.  In addition, the role will require responsiveness to queries regarding tax impacts of transactions and liaising closely with external tax advisors on various elements of planning and responding to technical tax queries.

Your responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate all elements of tax compliance and return submissions for multiple partnerships, corporations and trusts in conjunction with outside firms;

  • Manage relationship with CRA as related to audits, information requests and administrative issues and preparing necessary responses;

  • Oversee GST / HST compliance and filing requirements across multiple real estate funds;

  • Administer land transfer tax compliance and filing process with relevant municipalities;

  • Review and respond to investor queries regarding tax reporting and individual impacts; and

  • Liaise with internal business units and assist in providing tax support services under the guidance of executive management.

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Completed or near completion of CPA designation.

  • Experience with taxation and compliance at an analyst or associate level for 3+ years.

  • Good understanding of tax legislation and compliance requirements for partnerships, corporations and trusts.

  • Exposure to Excise Tax Act and GST / HST filing and compliance issues.

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex tax matters to both financial and non-financial stakeholders when necessary

  • Experience with corporate reorganization and asset transfer transactions and associated tax impacts considered an asset.

  • Experience with real estate considered an asset.
