The Red Hat Automotive Hardware Enablement team is looking for a Manager to join us in the Czech Republic. In this role, you will manage a globally distributed engineering team working on Linux kernel technologies that are a core component of telecommunication networks and emerging edge solutions. You'll also participate in hiring talent, career development, performance reviews, and coaching and mentoring team members. As a Manager, you'll collaborate with a diverse group of leaders in testing, documentation, product management, and support in a fast-paced, continuously evolving environment.

What you will do

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, direction, and leadership to a high-performing team of software engineers of all levels
  • Develop and enhance technical talent, building the skills needed for future business success
  • Ensure delivery against established goals and objectives with other portfolio products within Red Hat
  • Participate in planning and coordination meetings with automotive hardware partners
  • Participate in the broader upstream Linux community by supporting developers and subsystem maintainers
  • Foster collaboration with the teams across Engineering, Quality Engineering, Product Management, Documentation, and Product Build teams
  • Coordinate with the Talent Acquisition team on hiring
  • Implement ongoing improvement processes working with cross-functional teams

What you will bring

  • 3+ years experience as an engineering manager
  • Understanding of software development practices
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to cooperate with associates from diverse backgrounds
  • Strategic planning and exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams through rapid change while maintaining a focus on business goals
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and development tools like JIRA and Confluence is a plus
  • Knowledge of the Linux kernel development and open source software development processes is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
