The Opportunity
Our Diagnostics business currently has an opportunity for an Software Engineer II for our Irving, TX location. The Software Engineer II is an engineering professional who, with minimal to no supervision, applies engineering knowledge to develop software code, unit tests and integration tests for a component of a feature with the focus on embedded software.
What You’ll Work On
- Performs full-stack (e.g. UI, Service, Database, Hardware interfaces) implementation of one or more components in code for robot applications.
- Defines and executes unit testing and integration testing strategy for components.
- Serves as the technical subject matter expert for one or more components. Integrates subsystem components into larger system designs and develops specifications based on customer requirements.
- Independently defines configuration parameters, interface specification and deployment strategy for one or more components
- Defines the acceptance test criteria and testing strategy for one or more components. Performs functional and integration testing as needed.
- Ensures traceability and compliance of code implementation with software requirements. Contributes to assessment on existing designs for new or changing requirements.
- Performs fault isolation and conducts root cause investigations for basic to moderate complexity issues.
- Provides engineering effort estimates for moderate complexity defect corrections or software change requests.
- Manages the product definition, issue tracking and design description process with input from others. Communicates with internal stakeholders on decisions that impact their team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years of related experience, or
- Master's Degree with 2+ years of related experience, or
- Associate's Degree with 8+ years of related experience.
- Moderate experience in designing and developing complex software systems.
- Moderate knowledge in modern programming languages such as C/C++/C# or Python & agile methodologies.
- Moderate level of understanding of test-driven methodologies.
- Moderate level of knowledge with continuous integration & continuous development (CI/CD).
- Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Moderate ability to develop & design software code.
- Moderate level understanding of design patterns.
- Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
- Experience in Embedded Development.
- Experience in Multithreaded applications, low level control of robots.
- Expert knowledge in modern programming languages such as C/C++ and agile methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field or 3 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree in a related field.
- Moderate level of ability to conduct thorough data analytics & implement data-driven solutions.
