Location: Laboratory at Dick White Referrals (DWR), powered by Antech

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours, Monday to Friday (will consider 4 days a week)

Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Pathologist to join our growing team within our state-of-the-art Laboratory at Dick White Referrals (DWR) Referral Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a wider clinical team of Clinical and Anatomic Pathologists as we move forward under Antech Diagnostics, part of Mars Pet Care, together making a better world for pets.

As our laboratory is located within the busy hospital at DWR, lots of our work is from referred patients in house. We also receive samples through other referral hospitals across the UK, along with first opinion samples which provides us with a varied and interesting workload.

We enjoy interacting with our clinical associates, allowing for tailored individualised reports and excellent feedback and discussion of cases.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinical professional to join a renowned team, we are very pleased to support remote working for this position.

Primary duties include:

  • Examination and reporting of cytology samples – fine needle aspirates, effusions, CSF, synovial fluid.
  • Evaluation and interpretation of clinical pathology results including haematology, biochemistry, endocrinology and microbiology
  • Evaluation and reporting of flow cytometry
  • Contributing to the training of our clinical pathology resident as well as visiting residents
  • Contributing to the training of lab technicians in blood film examination
  • Taking part in seminars and journal clubs
  • This is a full-time post; however a 4-day week would also be considered, we are also able to offer remote working for this position.

Requirements

Board certified by the European College of Veterinary Pathologists, American College of Veterinary Pathologists or Royal College of Pathologists. Candidates who have completed their clinical pathology residency but are not yet board certified would also be considered, and study leave would be provided.
