Torch Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer/Cloud Planner to join our team and support U.S. Army acquisition programs within the Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE) Fires. This role provides senior-level software engineering, cloud architecture, and DevSecOps planning support for mission-critical systems, enabling secure, scalable, and compliant cloud-native solutions.
As a Software Engineer/Cloud Planner, your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:
Design, plan, and implement secure cloud-native software solutions using AWS, Azure, and hybrid cloud architectures
Lead Kubernetes-based platform efforts, including application deployment, cluster lifecycle management, scaling, monitoring, and security hardening
Collaborate with government stakeholders, contractors, and cross-functional teams to translate mission requirements into technical solutions
Develop and maintain Kubernetes manifests using Helm, Kustomize, and GitOps workflows to support repeatable and auditable deployments
Plan and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to ensure consistent and scalable cloud infrastructure
Integrate DevSecOps practices across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including automated security scanning and continuous compliance
Design and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab, Azure DevOps, and Ansible
Implement and enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), identity management, and secure authentication solutions
Apply DoD security frameworks including STIGs and NIST controls within cloud and containerized environments
Support system planning, technical roadmaps, architecture development, and integration strategies aligned with acquisition milestones
Develop technical documentation, system diagrams, and artifacts supporting ATO processes and program reviews
Lead secure network architecture planning including subnetting, routing, load balancing, and zero-trust principles
Provide mentorship to junior engineers and support continuous improvement and modernization initiatives
Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field
5+ years of relevant experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, or infrastructure roles
Ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret security clearance
DoD IAT Level II certification
Experience supporting cloud environments such as AWS and/or Azure
Strong experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications
Proficiency with Docker, Terraform, and configuration management tools such as Ansible
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working in DoD or federal environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting DoD cloud environments and compliance frameworks (e.g., IL4/IL5, FedRAMP)
Familiarity with hybrid cloud solutions such as Azure Local or AWS Outposts
Experience with GitOps and CNCF technologies
Strong understanding of enterprise networking and cloud security architectures
Experience working with cross-functional teams and government stakeholders
Strong technical documentation, briefing, and reporting experience
Familiarity with systems engineering, integration, and mission operations
Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, CKA, CKAD, CKS, CISSP, or CCSP
