We are seeking Agile Software Engineers to support the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC) U.S. National Data Center (US NDC). The US NDC is a high‑availability, mission‑critical system operating within a secure DoD environment. This role supports modernization, cybersecurity compliance, and sustainment of a large‑scale legacy system while advancing DevSecOps and cloud‑native practices.
As part of a SAFe Agile team, the selected candidate will collaborate across software, systems, database, hardware, and operations disciplines to design, develop, integrate, and deploy secure, reliable software capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and maintain software capabilities aligned to Program Increment (PI) and Sprint objectives
Lead development tasks and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
Design and implement secure, scalable system interfaces and microservices components
Develop and maintain code in Java, Python, C, JavaScript, and Perl within Linux environments
Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps automation
Ensure compliance with DoD, DISA STIGs, RMF controls, and secure coding best practices
Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews
Support integration, system testing, deployment, and troubleshooting in high-availability environments
Contribute to technical documentation including design artifacts, interface control documents, and operational procedures
Assist with root cause analysis and resolution of production issues
Maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, and operational procedures
Participate in on-call rotation and operational sustainment activities
Provide occasional after‑hours support as required
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Software Development, or related disciple with minimum 2-8 years of related experience. Additional experience, training, or certifications may substitute for degree
U.S. citizen; Currently possessing an Active DoD Top Secret clearance and eligibility for Top Secret/SCI
Currently hold a DoD 8140 IAT level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Sec+) or ability to earn within 6 months of hire
Proven abilities with C, Java and Python programing languages
Experience designing and developing applications in Agile/SAFe environments
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and DevSecOps practices
Working knowledge of Linux, Git, and configuration management tools
Experience developing in secure, regulated environments following DoD cybersecurity policies
Experience with virtualized environments
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Software Engineering, Software Development, or related disciple
Experience supporting 24/7 high-availability mission systems
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes)
Experience modernizing legacy systems or refactoring monolithic architectures
Familiarity with Oracle or other enterprise databases
Experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development
Experience working across multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Demonstrated ability to independently research, evaluate, and implement new technologies
