Position Summary

Position provides nutritional care of individuals in health or disease, which includes the application of the science and art of human nutrition in selecting and obtaining food.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Obtains and evaluates nutrition histories of the subjects regarding food habits. May require contacting families for planning nutrition aspects of studies well ahead of admission date. Coordination and implementation of appropriate nutrition management of genetics patients with inborn errors of metabolism, including, but not limited to, phenylketonuria and maternal PKU, maple syrup urine disease, urea cycle disorders, galactosemia, organic acidemias, and fatty acid oxidation disorders.
  • Assists in supervision of Dietetic Assistants in the production and service of research diets with appropriate control.
  • Makes appropriate changes in diet or procedures as needed.
  • As necessary, develops innovative recipes, which requires unusual products or combinations of products.
  • Interacts with medical students, house officers, fellows and investigators.
  • Assists in collaboration and negotiation with investigators in planning and implementing research study inclusive of literature review. Serves as a Study Coordinator/Dietitian for Clinical Research.
  • Performs other duties as required or as workload changes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree.
  • Ability to handle dietary mathematical calculations and metabolic balance techniques for nutritional management.
  • Ability to review medical literature, comprehend and give verbal/written instructions, uses scientific reasoning and relate effectively with people.
  • Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian in the State of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on work location, is required.
  • Two years of work experience in adult or pediatric dietetics.
  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Salary Range

$56,200.00 - $87,100.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
