The Product & Data Engineering team is responsible for end-to-end development of Disney’s world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products & experiences across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News. The team drives innovation at scale for millions of consumers around the world across Apple, Android, Smart TVs, game consoles, and the web, with our platforms powering core experiences like personalization, search, messaging and data.

The Web Platform Engineering team builds & delivers highly optimized tools and solutions that powers Disney's web products. Our mission is to deliver highly scalable solutions that are shared across the organization, spanning from core foundational libraries to sophisticated UI systems. We are passionate about crafting integrated server-side and client-side solutions that empower web teams to deliver products at scale!

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and craft highly scalable and elegant solutions for shared web platform

  • Collaborate with engineering teams across the company to accelerate adoption of shared solutions

  • Define and implement best practices to continually improve performance and scalability

  • Partner with other engineering teams to create and deliver reusable abstractions

  • Research and evaluate new technologies

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience building highly scalable and performant web applications serving millions of users and requests.

  • BS degree in computer science or equivalent work experience

  • Experience architecting sophisticated technical changes, to knowledge-share, and get consensus for their solutions.

  • Deep knowledge in Javascript, Typescript, React, Node.js, NPM, etc.

  • Experience with modern build tools like Webpack, TurboPack, Rollup, Vite, esbuild, etc.

  • Deep understanding of HTTP request-response cycle.

  • Excellent problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Shipped production level React/Node.js application with high availability and throughput deployed to cloud platforms (e.g. AWS)

  • Expansive industry knowledge with regard to web standards and new technologies

  • Experience in setting up continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA and Bristol, CT is $149,300 - $200,200 per year, in Seattle and New York is $156,300 - $209,600 per year, and in San Francisco is $163,500 - $219,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
