CommBank’s Financial Crime Services (FCS) team is looking for an Executive Manager Financial Crime Risk to lead the uplift of risk maturity through incident remediation, risk assessment, root cause analysis, and structured reporting using a defined rating scale.

More broadly FCS brings together four key capabilities to uplift our financial crime processes and systems: Financial Crime Operations (FCO) teams, Financial Crime Risk Advisory (FCRA), Quality Assurance and Financial Crime Domain which partner together to relentlessly pursue the elimination of Financial Crime.

As the Executive Manager for Financial Crime Risk, you will lead a small but purposeful team designed to assess and coordinate operational remediation of financial crime incidents within FCS. This includes assessing the risk of the incident, executing a root cause analysis and determining whether remediation is required based on severity & scale.

Significantly, this role will require you to forge partnerships with many areas across the group including incident owners, Financial Crime Compliance (FCC), Other Line 2 risk engagement, operations and the wider business to ensure timely and accurate remediation occurs.

You will act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team across FCS, regarding strategic planning, emerging risks and risk maturity and play a key role in ensuring risk behaviours, processes and ongoing management, remediation and prevention become part of the ways of working across FCS.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team coordinating operational remediation of financial crime incidents within FCS.
  • Design and implement incident management processes for FCS to ensure timely risk rating, remediation progress, and operational execution.
  • Identify and drive improvements in incident management within RiS, including data capture and system enhancements.
  • Develop solutions for efficient investigation, completion, and closure of financial crime incidents requiring FCS remediation.
  • Support incident owners in defining remediation approaches and preparing governance documentation.
  • Apply deep financial crime knowledge to tailor remediation strategies for each incident.
  • Oversee data analysis to confirm remediation populations and ensure quality outcomes.
  • Partner with the FCS remediation team to track progress and report on risk and quality metrics.
  • Provide senior management reporting on remediation activities, emerging risks, trends, and quality indicators.
  • Build and maintain MI dashboards to support effective tracking and reporting of incident remediation.
  • Act as a thought leader, redesigning processes to drive efficiency, risk reduction, and operational excellence.

Your skills and experience:

  • Extensive Financial Crime and Risk experience is essential
  • Deep knowledge of Operational and Compliance Risk frameworks, and Incident Management Standards/Frameworks
  • Demonstrable Influencing and consulting skills, the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to think critically and analytically and use data driven insights to solve problems
  • Strong people leadership skills, including expectation setting, coaching, and performance management
