Nature and Scope

Reporting to the Director of PMO, the Senior Project Manager provides a consistent, effective operating structure for projects through sound project management methodology, effective project resource allocation, and project performance reporting.

As a valued member of the PMO, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading cross-functional project teams in executing the activities of all business sponsored projects ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and within scope.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for managing complex projects as assigned
  • Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple lines of business
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Establish an overall project plan from project initiation to business training and handoff, in compliance with defined project management methodology.
  • Management of cross-team dependencies, including scoping, planning, prioritization, escalation, capacity planning, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Leads a cross-functional project team in executing assigned tasks and coordinating effort of internal and external project team members, ensuring tasks and deliverables are complete on time, within budget, and delivering the promised business functionality
  • Identify, assess, rank, and track all project risks and issues ensuring mitigation requirements are clearly documented and if required escalated to program leadership.
  • Proactively evaluates project activities, builds contingency plans, executes corrective action, and monitors issue resolution to mitigate risks
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager, Project Management Office in the design and implement effective tools to measure individual project and PMO performance
  • Contribute to improved levels of employee satisfaction and company success by motivating team members and helping to develop their knowledge and skills
  • Financial Management - develop and actively manage a budget and resource plan.
  • Provide clear, consistent, and timely messaging; both verbal and written; within the team and to business leadership; facilitate effective and timely meetings
  • Report all Adverse Events (AE) and Product Technical Complaints (PTC) immediately or as soon as possible upon becoming aware of the event as per current policies and procedures.

What you will need:

  • University degree required in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, Health Sciences)
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience leading medium to large complex projects.
  • Leadership ability handling critical initiatives and the inter-dependencies between multiple workstreams, teams, and outcomes using agile/scrum methodologies while driving clear action and ownership  
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), strongly preferred
  • Experience mentoring and coaching peers and functional colleagues 
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills including ability to work in a multi-functional environment, communicating with all levels of the organization, and ensuring sound vendor management
  • Monitor and report on progress, problems, and proposed solutions as it relates to key program initiatives and escalate issues as appropriate
  • Demonstrating effectiveness at leading and working with teams 
  • Experience organizing and facilitating meetings with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt and embrace change in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership and a proven ability to influence decision-makers at all levels within the organization without authority
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, and JIRA/Confluence
  • Experience in the Healthcare industry is an asset
  • Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement processes an asset
  • Experience leading technical projects is an asset.
