About This Opportunity 

An exciting opportunity is available for a Marketing and Engagement Officer (Student Recruitment) based within the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. In this role, you will assist the Manager, Marketing and Engagement to develop and implement effective marketing and student recruitment strategies and campaigns that promote undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs offered by the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.

Some attendance at programs/functions outside of business hours and travel to careers events/expos may also be required. 

Key responsibilities will include, but is not limited to: 

  • Contribute to the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a range of Faculty marketing strategies and campaigns, including social media and digital marketing campaigns.

  • Work closely with the Manager, Marketing and Engagement to develop a range of strategies to engage high school students and promote HASS undergraduate programs, disciplines, and initiatives.

  • Coordinate the Faculty’s participation in university-wide marketing and recruitment events activities (such as Open Day, TSXPO, Guidance Counsellors Conference) as well as smaller bespoke recruitment activities.

  • Manage the HASS Student Ambassador program.

  • Develop and maintain content for Faculty programs on the UQ Study website and other promotional publications. Liaise with staff in the Faculty Office to ensure that material referring to program and course information is accurate.

  • Contribute to the management of official Faculty social media accounts and conduct staff training where necessary. This may include managing in-house social media campaigns and being part of the UQ Social Media Governance Board.

  • Analyse data through analytical tools (Dashboard, Google Analytics) to provide key marketing insights.

  • Represent the Faculty at engagement events as needed, which may require attending events outside normal working hours.

  • Contribute to the execution of enterprise marketing and communication campaigns and initiatives, and special marketing projects as required.

About You

  • A degree in marketing, communications or a related discipline with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Demonstrated experience in student recruitment, marketing of programs, and managing social media campaigns.

  • Demonstrated high-level written skills with the extensive experience in researching, writing, and producing relevant content and collateral for different digital and print platforms.

  • Demonstrated high level organisational and event planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, work to deadlines and under pressure, to establish priorities, and to work across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to negotiate, analyse and resolve issues and maintain relationships across a range of stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated high level of computer competency across standard Microsoft programs, including ability to use specialist programs such as the Adobe Creative suite (Photoshop, InDesign etc) and Vision6.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia.
