Job Description

Location: Deerfield IL - Hybrid

Level: Mid level- Individual Contributor

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE: The Staff Accountant position will support the global accounting functions for Envista Forensics.  Responsibilities include account reconciliations and journal entry preparation as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Senior Staff Accountant.  Additional responsibilities may include assignments related to financial reporting, financial analysis, and special projects.

This role will be responsible for building relationships with internal and external customers, as well as ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures, and drive department efficiencies. The Staff Accountant may participate in projects, as assigned, to support new initiatives.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates actively in assuring the effectiveness of the monthly close and reporting process.
  • Regularly maintains detailed reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts, which may include cash, prepaids, fixed assets, accrued expenses, intercompany, payroll, and other accounts.
  • Provides detailed analysis and explanations of all transactions related to the assigned accounts.
  • Prepares related journal entries including detailed supporting documentation.
  • Understands operating procedures and the documentation of data flows as necessary.
  • Understands and may support system implementation or upgrades, including but not necessarily limited to Great Plaines (ERP), Chrome River (AP processes), and OneStream (CPM).
  • Assists in filing annual reports, business property tax filings and various state and local tax filings.
  • Prepares support and documentation for external auditors, as assigned.
  • Understands and may assist in the formulation of policy for the department, researching and recommending effective policies and procedures that represent best industry practice. Identifies and addresses the needs for improved work-flow processes, including centralization, standardization, and automation of procedures, as required..
  • Participates in ongoing training and development as assigned to assure knowledge and skills remain current and comprehensive.
  • Supports company acquisition and integration activities including operational and financial activities, as required.
  • Performs other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities/Experience:

  • 2 to 4 years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of personal computers, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and related software (Great Plains, Chrome River Expense, and Chrome River Invoicing, OneStream).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized and accountable to deadlines.
  • Exemplary time management and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy, to execute tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Sound written and oral communication skills, problem-solving, influencing, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for communicating with staff, as well as middle and upper management.
  • Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities.
  • Willing to embrace change.
  • Teamwork, compassion, and respect toward others, in keeping with our 5 Guiding Principles, as well as integrity, accountability and adherence to standards of ethical behavior and professional conduct, and open and honest communication.

Preferred Skills/Abilities/Experience:

  • Experience with international and multi-entity organizational structures preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
  • CPA preferred.
