Position Summary...

The Product Developer develops a product assortment by focusing on fabric/material, quality, styling details and execution of the product from sample development through to production with maintaining the vision, direction, and point of view of the category and the brand.

What you'll do...

Support departmental brand strategy (e.g. men's, ladies, kids) and execution of seasonal collections annually supporting the overall product vision. execute product opportunities while optimizing margin, quality, styling, and price.

Collaborate with Design Manager on building the brand sub-segment (example tops, bottoms) through local market shop, competitive analysis and trend assessment to execute overall strategic vision and support the needs of the buying organization.

Track assortment development and progress through production and maintenance of commodity visual index documents (CAD boards outlining all styles) and support Design Manager with preparation for presentations and vendor negotiations.

Collaborate with Design Manager, sourcing and technical resources (apparel only) on approvals of artwork, fabric, trims, and other product requirements.

Execute graphic requirements using key technical skills and/or through communication of seasonal briefing to external creative resources

Support delivery of the Brand through ensuring development samples and production meet critical deadlines, managing the critical path activities against the Apparel Merchandising Calendar

Ensure sample delivery and approvals meet critical deadline

Manage and maintain assortment tech packs (style detail sheet). Work with Design Manager and tech design team (Apparel only) to develop specifications on fit, fabric, trim, artwork, and other requirements to reach financial targets and merchandising deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in Fashion Design.
  • Strong comprehension of pattern-making, draping, grading and garment construction.
  • Textile and manufacturing knowledge.
  • Knowledge of factory production; domestic and import.
  • Photoshop and Illustrator experience (Technical and Artistic).
  • Communication experience with Import and Domestic Vendors.
  • Prior merchandising or product development experience.
  • Excel.
  • Minimum Years of Experience Required 3 to 5 years
