Job Base Location- Loni Kalbhor, Pune

Job Profile Outlook:

Lead the end-to-end purchasing function for the electrical industry with full ownership of strategic sourcing, policy formulation, supplier ecosystem development, team performance, risk governance, inventory control and JIT excellence.

Drive measurable value through cost leadership, supply reliability, and adoption of global best practices while ensuring uninterrupted material availability for manufacturing

What you will be doing:

1. Formulation of Policies

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive purchasing policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ethical sourcing guidelines.
  • Ensure policies comply with statutory requirements (BIS, IEC, UL, RoHS, REACH) and internal governance standards.
  • Establish approval matrices, delegation of authority, and digital workflow systems for all procurement transactions.

2. Strategic Buying

  • Formulate and execute long-term category strategies for all raw materials, components, and capital equipment.
  • Conduct global market intelligence, price forecasting, and total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) analysis to secure competitive advantage.
  • Lead annual and multi-year contract negotiations, planning of commodity exposure (copper, aluminium, steel, polymers), and value-engineering initiatives with engineering and R&D teams.

3. Supplier Development

  • Build and nurture a reliable and competitive supplier base through qualification, onboarding and strategic partnership procedures.
  • Design and execute supplier development roadmaps covering quality, technology, capacity and sustainability.
  • Conduct periodic supplier audits, assessments and joint improvement projects (Kaizen, Six Sigma, Value Engineering).

4. Monitoring of Buyers

  • Lead, coach and manage a team of buyers.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one reviews, skill-gap analysis and targeted training on negotiation, cost analytics and industry-specific knowledge.
  • Enforce adherence to policies, ethical standards and procurement process discipline across the team.

5. Inventory Policy and Control

  • Define and enforce company-wide inventory policy (ABC classification, min-max, safety stock, reorder point, and inventory turnover targets).
  • Lead quarterly excess & obsolete (E&O) reviews and drive disposition strategies.

6. JIT Buying Policies

  • Design and implement JIT procurement models integrated with ERP-MRP and production schedules.
  • Roll out vendor-managed inventory (VMI), consignment stocking and Kanban systems for high-volume electrical components.
  • Achieve measurable reduction in inventory holding cost without compromising line availability.

Additional Accountabilities

  • Own the annual procurement budget and deliver year-on-year savings.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Finance and Legal teams.
  • Ensure 100 % compliance with company code of conduct and ethics policies.

What will you bring along:

  • Bachelor’s / master’s degree in engineering (Electrical/Mechanical preferred), Supply Chain, or MBA (Operations/Procurement).
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in procurement/supply chain.
  • At least 7–8 years in the electrical industry (cables, switchgear, transformers, power equipment) at managerial level.
  • Proven track record of delivering multi-core cost savings and implementing JIT/VMI programs.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP and advanced Excel / Power BI.
  • Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making ability.
  • Leadership presence with ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of electrical material specifications, standards and supply-market dynamics.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
