We are hiring an Apprentice Welder at our Mildred Lake shop facility on a 14x14 continuous shift rotation.

Industry Leading Wage: $53.37 – $60.48h
Continuous Shift Premium: $3.50/h
Night Shift Premium: $3.50/h *when applicable
Continuous Shift: 14x14; extra scheduled weeks off per year

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:

  • Assist Welders with production and repairs of heavy duty equipment and/or related equipment in a timely manner
  • Minimize downtime and maintain production requirements as scheduled
  • Assist with examining and diagnosis of machine defects, repair damage and cracks when necessary
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
  • Maintain safe work practices
  • Other work assigned as required

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must be a current 2nd or 3rd year Welder Apprentice
  • Willing to work towards Welder Certification
  • Successfully meet Finning’s educational and testing prerequisites.  This includes: completion of grade 12 (not including a general equivalent diploma)
  • Meet the requirements of article 5.02 of the Alberta Collective Agreement
  • Previous fabrication and machining experience
  • Individual will be highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing will be necessary for successful candidacy
  • Line boring experience will be considered an asset

Important Details

  • This position is based out of Mildred Lake Shop facility on a 14x14 continuous days/nights shift
  • Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current collective agreement
  • Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement
  • You are required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted
