We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as AVP , AML Independent Validation Statistician  Analyst- C12, Hybrid, Malaysia (Internal Job Title: Model/Anlys/Valid Sr Analyst - C12) based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  Being part of our team means that we’ll provide you with the resources to meet your unique needs, empower you to make healthy decision and manage your financial well-being to help plan for your future.  For instance:

In this role, you’re expected:

  • Prepare and validate data. Apply quantitative and qualitative analysis methods. Perform statistical and non-statistical data exploration. Identify data quality issues and work with Technology to address them.
  • Conduct data-driven analyses. Analyze, interpret data reports, and draw conclusions.
  • Document solutions and present results in a clear, comprehensive manner to a nontechnical audience, and draft formal documentation and reports using statistical terminology.
  • Enhance existing methodology. Review the statistics literatures to generate new ideas, concepts, to improve existing methods of obtaining and evaluating data. Escalate identified risks and sensitive areas in existing methodologies and processes.
  • Maintain an industry-leading knowledge of the tools, systems, and processes available for a best-in-class AML monitoring and detection system.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • Strong statistical academic background, knowledge of quantitative methods, including the calculation and interpretation of outcomes.
  • A high degree of skill with SQL, Python, SAS, R, and the MS Office Suite. Experience with Hadoop, Hive and Spark, including Spark ML is a plus.
  • Experience in reporting the results of analysis in a clearly written manner, and in presenting findings during meetings and conference calls.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required. A master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, or related quantitative field is preferred.
  • Good understanding of AML Program and AML monitoring platform.
  • Ability to work under the close supervision of a functional team manager, while preserving independence of thinking and responsibility for results.
  • Ability to discuss the rationale behind a critical assessment of facts and opinions, and to provide comprehensive answers and arguments.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of the organization and across different business units.
  • Ability to coordinate with other members of the team and to deal with conflicting time demands.
  • Provide input on the innovation and application of new and enhanced approaches. Have initiative and a proactive attitude.
