Position: SAP ABAP Data Migration Specialist – ECC 6.0
Role Summary
We are seeking a seasoned SAP ABAP Data Migration Specialist to join our project team and lead complex data migration activities into an SAP ECC 6.0 environment. The ideal candidate has 1–2 full-cycle S/4HANA or ECC implementations with strong hands-on experience loading both master and transactional data into ECC using LSMW, IDocs, and custom BAPI-based programs. This role is highly technical and focuses on end-to-end transformation, cleansing, validation, and high-volume performance optimization of data being transitioned into ECC. Key Responsibilities
Design and develop data migration solutions for master and transactional data objects loading into ECC 6.0 NA from legacy or other SAP systems.
Build and maintain LSMW objects, IDoc-based interfaces, and custom BAPI/ABAP load programs for initial loads and ongoing corrections.
Debug complex ABAP programs, user exits, BAdIs, and enhancements to resolve load errors, mapping issues, and data integrity problems.
Optimize performance of high-volume ECC data loads through ABAP performance tuning, effective use of parallel processing, appropriate commit strategies, and coordination with Basis for technical tuning.
Support end-to-end migration cycles in ECC: trial loads, mock conversions, cutover execution, and post-go-live data fixes.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including technical specs, mapping documents, load procedures, and defect resolution logs.
Required Skills and Experience
10–16 years of SAP ABAP experience, with a strong focus on data migration into ECC 6.0.
1–2 full-cycle SAP implementations (ECC and/or S/4HANA) with significant data migration responsibilities.
Proven expertise in:
LSMW for complex ECC data loads.
IDoc configuration, extension, and custom IDoc-based load programs.
BAPI creation/consumption and custom ABAP load programs targeting ECC objects.
Advanced ABAP debugging and problem analysis for migration and performance issues.
Demonstrated ability to tune ABAP code and manage high-volume data loads efficiently in ECC environments.
Solid understanding of ECC 6.0 NA data model exposure to S/4HANA data structures and differences is a plus.
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills comfortable working under pressure during cutover periods.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in the oil and gas industry, including familiarity with industry-specific data objects and processes in ECC.
Experience designing reconciliation and audit reports for ECC data migration.
Understanding of integration with surrounding systems via IDocs/BAPIs in complex ECC landscapes.
