Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for providing technical support for Caterpillar’s best in class service tools as well as the maintenance of the associated team’s development tools and processes.  The successful candidate will be an integral part of a software development group that is chartered to deliver products that service the entire Caterpillar product line while maintaining excellent quality standards that our customers have come to expect.   

What You Will Do:

• Manages reported service tool issues from the field and addresses them promptly
• Coordinates with other related support teams to ensure customer satisfaction and issue resolution efficiency
• Works with other departments for system issues that are dependencies for successful product development and maintenance
• Purchases various software and hardware items needed by the team beyond what is standard company issue

What Skills You Will Have:

Data Gathering & Analysis:
• Gathers information to properly analyze field issues and provide solutions
• Actively communicates with associated support teams to produce data that measures issue management effectivity
• Documents and maintains support procedures used to troubleshoot field issues
• Monitors team resource use and makes appropriate adjustments to ensure overall productivity

Quality Management:
• Utilizes and improves quality indicators relevant to service tool production and support effectivity
• Continuously seeks process and quality improvements and clearly demonstrates value
• Works with quality assurance team to ensure adherence to section’s quality processes


Decision Making and Critical Thinking:
• Identifies, obtains, and organizes relevant data and ideas
• Documents data / ideas for both support and development process concerns
• Manages multiple initiatives with conflicting priorities
• Provides input in assessing risks, benefits and consideration of alternatives

• Applies an assigned technique for critical thinking in a decision-making process

Technical Excellence:
• Provides effective technical solutions to field product issues and team system development tools concerns
• Continuously builds knowledge and keeps up to date on technical and procedural development systems

• Applies new tools and concepts to teams’ development processes to improve overall efficiencies and adherence to company initiatives
• Helps other team members to solve technical or procedural problems or issues

Technical Troubleshooting:
• Resolves issues that are not handled by the associated customer facing support teams

• Assists customer facing support teams by pointing out gaps and providing areas for improvement
• Handles calls related to product features and related hardware issues
• Analyzes logs and current systems as part of advanced troubleshooting.
• Records and reports issue resolution by documenting processes used to address field problems

The location for this position is Mossville, IL.

Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

This position will require less than 10% travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$95,640.00 - $143,520.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
